Lies Moms Believe (& How The Gospel Refutes Them)Sample
Oh, the dreaded mom guilt. That sickening feeling all of us mamas have experienced down deep in our gut at one time or another (or, let's face it - multiple times a day!).
You want to know something, though, mama? Our Lord does not intend for us to journey through our days as mothers believing the lie that mom guilt is just something we have to deal with. He wants us to be free from it, once and for all. There is a big difference between conviction (which the Holy Spirit does bring as He guides us further down that path of sanctification) and condemnation (which Christ Jesus forever freed us from through His death on our behalf).
Paul knew well the feelings of guilt and self-condemnation. Throughout the end of Romans 7 he is recounting his own personal struggle with committing sins he knows he shouldn't, while also failing to do those things he knows he should. Do you ever feel like that? I know I do! Sometimes I wonder, will I ever get it together?
If that's you, too, I want you to hear what I'm about to say: it is in the very midst of Paul's lament over his ongoing struggle with sin that he then says this in Romans 8:1 - "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus."
He didn't say there was no condemnation now because he was perfect, never struggled with sin anymore, and was the epitome of a righteous person. No, he said there was absolutely no condemnation for him, even in the midst of his current struggles with sin, because of the fact that he was in Christ Jesus. He had been washed by the blood, made new in Christ, and our merciful and gracious God had removed his transgressions from him "as far as the east is from the west" (Psalm 103:12).
The same can be said of you, too, sister. If your life is hidden with Christ in God, if you have come to Him in saving faith, you now possess the very righteousness of Christ as your own. When God the Father looks at you, He sees Christ the Son. You are a new creation in Christ, forgiven forever of every transgression.
That, my friend, is why there is no room for mom guilt in the life of the Christian woman!
About this Plan
Mamas have a multitude of discouraging voices coming at them on a daily basis—lies they tell themselves, lies from others, and more. There is good news, however! God, in His mercy and grace, has provided us with unchanging truths in His Word which are able to combat each and every lie that could ever be thrown at us in motherhood. The truth is, the gospel even applies to mothering!
