NO ONE LIKE OUR GOD
The Bible constantly tells us that there is no one like our God. He is completely “other.”
1 Samuel 2:2 (NIV) describes God as holy, set apart and rock-steady: “There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides You; there is no Rock like our God.”
God even describes Himself as one-of-a-kind in Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV): “‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’”
Although He is higher and wiser and greater than we are, the good news of the Gospel is that we have access to everything He is — direct access through the Holy Spirit.
Unfortunately, often our view of God can run contrary to this truth. Surely a King who sits on a throne high above us would never want to sit with us in the midst of our mess. Surely He’s too holy, too royal, too important. Yet, the Bible emphatically tells us that there is nothing that can ever separate us from God.
In this familiar verse, Paul writes, “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow — not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below — indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39, NLT).
The reality of that verse hits me like a two-by-four. We serve a God who leaves the 99 to chase after the one. We worship a God who defeated death. There’s nothing standing in the way between His children and His love. I can’t comprehend it.
What is this grace that makes no sense / That we could never recompense / Who gives us all a second chance / Only You
Truly, there is no one like our God.
About this Plan
Our God is the God of the impossible! He is always at work, looking for opportunities to perform miracles. I’ve found this to be true in my own life, so I wrote some songs about God doing the impossible. This devotional series centers around seven songs from my album, God of the Impossible . I hope you walk away from this devo series refreshed and expectant, trusting in the unwavering faithfulness of God. Believing the impossible - Lincoln Brewster
