Standing Tall In A Falling World By Angelique du ToitSample
Soundness of Heart
Are you really enjoying your life? Are you embracing the goodness that every day brings, or lamenting that your life is not what it could be?
As I slowly began to gain insight into the truth of how God sees me, loves me and cares for me (see Jeremiah 1:5 and 1 Peter 1:3–4), I dared to venture out of the hallway of distorted mirrors that had been where I had lived for many years: a life of believing the lie that I wasn’t worthy; that I couldn’t succeed, that I didn’t have much to offer, along with all the other deceptions, caused severe distortion to myself and to my strategy for life. This resulted in me wearing a mask and portraying a person to the world that really wasn’t me at all.
As my heart healed and I dared to believe that there was more to my life, I began to exchange all the lies for the truth of God’s opinion of me. Instead of seeing myself as disjointed, broken and disconnected, His image of me progressively became my reality (see 1 Peter 2:9 and John 15:16). Beginning to live the life that God wants for you will bring forth a new enjoyment of life. He will allow you to experience abundance previously unknown and you will know the joy that overflows from a sound heart (see Proverbs 17:22).
Personal transformation is costly. The price is well worth paying because the rewards far outweigh the investment. Imagine living a life of true freedom—freedom from your past, freedom from others’ opinions, freedom to be you. Imagine being able to look honestly at yourself in the mirror and thank God for making you just the way you are; then co-operating with Him to make the adjustments, improvements and changes necessary to release even greater joy in your life.
