Illuminate: A 21-Day JourneySample
Day 13: Why He Came
Jesus often taught in parables, stories that communicated certain truths. Sometimes these parables were difficult for the disciples to understand. Sometimes they’re still difficult for us to understand. But as we read the Scriptures carefully, praying for God to help us uncover his truths, he’ll often surprise us with some amazing things. Take a second and read John 10:1–21 before reading the reflection. As you read this passage, focus on the reason Jesus gave for his coming.
Reflection
Jesus said that he came so that we, those who have believed in him as the Son of God, would have rich and satisfying lives. In contrast, Jesus compared the enemy to a thief who has come to steal, kill, and destroy the lives of those who haven’t believed in Christ. As those who believe, and those who are now in the process of realizing the rich and satisfying lives that God is creating in and through us, it is our job to share this Good News with others.
- When was the last time you told someone about the Good News of Jesus Christ?
- What keeps you from sharing the Good News more often?
- How can you help others find the rich and satisfying lives that God has intended for them?

About this Plan
Coming off a retreat or revival? What next? You and I are the church of Jesus Christ on earth today, the visible representation of an invisible God. We have the Holy Spirit living within us, and have been commissioned to shine (illuminate) his love in the midst of a dark world. But what does that mean? How did we get here? And what do we do with all of this? All good questions, and if you stick with us through this journey, we are confident that the Holy Spirit will open your eyes to the light within you that God intends to use to illuminate the world!
