Al necio le parece bien lo que emprende, pero el sabio escucha el consejo. El necio muestra enseguida su enojo, pero el prudente pasa por alto el insulto. El testigo veraz declara lo que es justo, pero el testigo falso engaña. El charlatán hiere con la lengua como con una espada, pero la lengua del sabio brinda sanidad. Los labios sinceros permanecen para siempre, pero la lengua mentirosa dura solo un instante. En los que planean el mal habita el engaño, pero hay gozo para los que promueven la paz. Al justo no le sobrevendrá ningún daño, pero al malvado lo cubrirá la desgracia. El SEÑOR aborrece a los de labios mentirosos, pero se complace en los que actúan con lealtad. El hombre prudente no muestra lo que sabe, pero del corazón de los necios brota necedad. El de manos diligentes gobernará; pero el perezoso será subyugado. La angustia abate el corazón del hombre, pero una palabra amable lo alegra. El justo es guía de su prójimo, pero el camino del malvado lo hace errar. El perezoso no pone a asar lo que ha cazado, pero el diligente ya posee una gran riqueza. En el camino de la justicia se halla la vida; por ese camino se evita la muerte.

El tonto está seguro de que hace lo correcto; el sabio hace caso del consejo. Los tontos fácilmente se enojan; los sabios perdonan la ofensa. La gente honrada siempre dice la verdad, pero el testigo falso dice puras mentiras. El que habla sin pensar hiere como un cuchillo, pero el que habla sabiamente sabe sanar la herida. El que dice la verdad vive una larga vida; el que solo dice mentiras no vive mucho tiempo. En la mente de los malvados solo hay engaño; entre los que aman la paz reina la alegría. El bueno no sufre ningún daño; al malvado los males le llegan juntos. Dios no soporta a los mentirosos, pero ama a la gente sincera. Si realmente eres sabio, no presumas de lo que sabes; solo los tontos se jactan de su estupidez. Trabaja, y triunfarás; no trabajes, y fracasarás. La angustia causa tristeza; pero una palabra amable trae alegría. El buen amigo da buenos consejos; el malvado se pierde en su maldad. El perezoso se queda sin comida; el trabajador la tiene en abundancia. Hacer lo bueno da larga vida; haz el bien y vivirás.

Un testigo honrado dice la verdad; un testigo falso dice mentiras. Algunas personas hacen comentarios hirientes, pero las palabras del sabio traen alivio. Las palabras veraces soportan la prueba del tiempo, pero las mentiras pronto se descubren. El corazón que trama el mal está lleno de engaño; ¡el corazón que procura la paz rebosa de alegría! Nada malo le sucederá a los justos, pero los perversos se llenarán de dificultades. El SEÑOR detesta los labios mentirosos, pero se deleita en los que dicen la verdad. Los sabios no hacen alarde de sus conocimientos, pero los necios hacen pública su necedad. Trabaja duro y serás un líder; sé un flojo y serás un esclavo. La preocupación agobia a la persona; una palabra de aliento la anima. Los justos dan buenos consejos a sus amigos; los perversos los llevan por mal camino. Los perezosos ni siquiera cocinan la presa que han atrapado, pero los diligentes aprovechan todo lo que encuentran. El camino de los justos conduce a la vida; ese rumbo no lleva a la muerte.
