NIV Once-A-Day Bible Worship and Praise DevotionalMuestra
HERE, THERE AND EVERYWHERE
Author A. W. Tozer once observed that what we think about God is the most important thing about us. And surely what we think of him is reflected in the various ways we describe him and in the assorted names or titles by which we address him.
In blessing Abram, Melchizedek, the king and priest of ancient Salem, spoke of “God Most High.” In other words, God is lofty and exalted. He sits enthroned above the heavens. But he is not aloof. Notice that he is, in Melchizedek’s words, also the God who delivers his people. He is a God who intervenes, who injects himself into the mundane lives of those who follow him.
Amazing, isn’t it? Our great Creator rules and reigns. But more than that, he sees and hears. Even better, he shows up, helping, delivering, always desiring to pour out blessings on his beloved servants.
Just as God did for Abram, he will also do for you. What is it that you need most? Protection, guidance, safekeeping? Take your needs to God Most High. He promises to bless you.
God, I lift these requests before you . . .
