DÍA 17 DE 21

GOD'S QUALIFICATIONS

We praise people for what they do. Rarely does someone become famous because of who they are. They have to publish, score, invent, sell, win, lead or record.
This standard of praising others is often what we use when we praise God. Our first question is, “What has God done to benefit me?” The quality of his blessing equals the quality of our praise. Using this standard, Pharaoh might not have had much to say to God. God unleashed terror upon terror on Pharaoh’s country for holding the Israelites. Did that exempt him from worshiping God? No, God still expected Pharaoh to acknowledge and worship him as the true God.
God tells us a lot about himself in the Scriptures. He also proclaims that he does many things. But when our worship becomes contingent on God doing things for us, we walk on dangerous ground. God will not be managed or manipulated. We have an obligation to worship God for who God is.
In his reintroduction to the Israelites, God begins and ends his address with the declaration, “I am the Lord!” He repeats this phrase over 130 times in the Old Testament when addressing Israel. God wanted his people to know him. He expected that worship would be the by-product of his relationship with them. Take time right now to worship the God that you know.

Lord, I know this about you . . .
