You Carry the Future

When you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and surrender to Him, you will discover that He has placed His Word in you. You carry the future and can speak forth those things that have not yet occurred. What a beautiful thing! The Holy Spirit has equipped us with everything we will have in the future; He is inside us. Every believer can hear from God and share that encouraging message with someone else. This doesn’t mean all believers are prophets or will have a public speaking or platform ministry. Yet God can use any of us to release a prophetic word. Right now, the future is coursing through your veins. You just need to realize it.

In Scripture, Jacob had an encounter with God that changed his life forever. Genesis 28:10–17 (ESV) describes how God revealed a hidden truth to him. Verses 16–17 say, “Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, ‘Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.’ And he was afraid and said, ‘How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.’” He had found the very access point from the natural world into the spiritual world. Jacob’s powerful encounter shows us a vivid image of what God has placed inside every person who has given their heart to Him.

Why is this so important? Because the heart pumps blood throughout the entire body. Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is made up of two linked strands that wind around each other, resembling a twisted ladder. Ribonucleic acid (RNA) is known as a messenger that carries genetic information up and down the double helix (ladder). Does this sound familiar? It’s the exact replica of Jacob’s vision of a ladder, with angels—messengers—going up and down the ladder from earth to heaven. I see Jacob’s ladder as symbolic of human DNA. The angels are symbolic of the RNA messengers carrying information. This means that eternity is within you! In 1 Corinthians 6:19, the apostle Paul writes, “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” God living in you takes on a whole new meaning when you realize that He has placed Himself within your very DNA.
