From Employee to Entrepreneur: How to Break Free From Your Day Job" a 5 - Day Devotional by Tola OlabiyiMuestra
Day 3: Trusting God's Timing
Scripture: Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV)
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens."
Have you ever felt like you were ready for success, but the door wasn’t opening? Or maybe you’ve been working on your business for years, and things haven’t come together the way you imagined. I’ve been there. After the failure of my first business, I wanted immediate success in my next venture. I was ready to jump in with both feet, but God’s timing wasn’t aligned with mine. There were seasons where doors stayed closed, and I couldn’t understand why.
It’s important to remember that God’s timing is perfect. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that there is a time and season for everything. Just because something isn’t happening right now doesn’t mean it never will. God may be preparing you in ways you don’t yet understand. The waiting season can feel frustrating, but it’s also a time of growth. During the waiting season, I learned the value of prayer, patience, and obedience. God was developing my character, sharpening my skills, and deepening my trust in Him. The time spent in my nursing career helped develop my time management, customer service, and leadership skills that I now use in my business. In the book of Genesis, we see that at the right time, Joseph was brought out of prison to interpret Pharaoh’s dream. This set him on the path of becoming the number 2 ruler in Egypt. He waited for many years, and at the appointed time, he was set free from prison.
Trusting God’s timing is part of the process of emancipation. It’s about surrendering control and believing that He knows the perfect time to open the right doors. That doesn’t mean you should sit back and do nothing. Keep working, keep growing, and keep seeking Him. But remember, His timing is always best. Don’t rush the process, and don’t get discouraged if things aren’t moving as fast as you’d like.
Reflection: Are you struggling to trust God’s timing in your business or life? What steps can you take today to surrender control and trust His plan?
