Daily Bible Reading - January 2025, God’s Strengthening Word: Celebrating Unity in Christ JesusMuestra
Introduction
Luke 6:27–49: Today’s reading is a continuation of Jesus’s “Sermon on the Plain” since it takes place after Jesus has come down from a hill with his apostles to a level place (see verse 17 from yesterday’s reading). A number of Jesus’s teachings, as recorded here in Luke’s Gospel, can also be found in chapters 5—7 of Matthew’s Gospel.
Today’s Key Verse: Luke 6:31
[Jesus said:] “Do for others just what you want them to do for you.”
Reflect
As you read through Jesus’s teachings today, which ones do you find most meaningful for you? Why? Are there any that you find hard to follow? Verse 31 is often referred to as the “Golden Rule.” How would you express this teaching in public and private life? What are your thoughts about what you can learn from all the teachings in today’s reading?
Pray
Lord Jesus, by the power of your Holy Spirit, help me to understand your teachings and apply them to my life. Strengthen my faith and guide me each day as I grow in knowledge of you. In your holy name, I pray. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Luke 7:1–17: Jesus heals a Roman officer’s servant and restores a widow’s son to life.
