Count Your TodaysMuestra
BEYOND TODAY
In this Plan, we’ve learned that we have no control over the number of “todays” we’ll experience on this earth. And we’ve been reminded that everything we work for and accumulate is not guaranteed to last for even one more day. But it's good to remember that today’s choices may reach beyond into the future.
King Hezekiah’s efforts and faithfulness throughout his life left a lasting legacy. Apart from the fact that we’re still benefiting from his story centuries later, he was greatly honored by everyone who knew him. “When Hezekiah died, he was buried in the upper area of the royal cemetery, and all Judah and Jerusalem honored him at his death.” (2 Chronicles 32:33, NLT).
Being honored at his death doesn’t mean that Hezekiah was perfect. But the way he navigated his difficult days also had a lasting impact. “Then Hezekiah humbled himself and repented of his pride, as did the people of Jerusalem. So the Lord’s anger did not fall on them during Hezekiah’s lifetime.” (2 Chronicles 32:26, NLT). His daily responses to successes and failures went beyond the present day.
Today, as we live in the age after Jesus’ victory over death, we have an even greater responsibility to make choices that go beyond today. “Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” (Matthew 6:20, NLT). And what greater treasure is there in Heaven than souls touched by the Gospel that we were given to share?
Which choices are in front of you today? How can you impact the lives of yourself and others beyond today? How would you like to be remembered if today turned out to be your last?
Let us ponder over the great value of each new day that the Lord gives us here on earth. And let us make the most of each new “today” with eternity in mind. “Look, today I am giving you the choice between a blessing and a curse! You will be blessed if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today.” (Deuteronomy 11:26-27, NLT).
Acerca de este Plan
What is today worth to you? Is it a burden you must face until you can get to tomorrow? But what if tomorrow is not guaranteed? In this Plan, we will explore Hezekiah’s journey as more "todays" were added to his life. And I hope that it will help us make the most of each day that the Lord gives us.
