When I Walk in the Dark ShadowsMuestra
Many fear darkness because of the loneliness and sense of blindness that they experience in that place. When we cannot see, we don't know what to "do" and that immobilises us. We are no longer in control and we desperately want to be in control!
When we walk in the dark we should refrain from speaking. Our words won't bring life and hope to us. If we talk in the dark, we can't listen to what God is saying to us. During these times we should limit what we say to others about our situation.
Don't seek to understand the reason for the darkness by reading endless books. Instead, just listen and obey. Shadows are the unmistakable evidence that God is working in us. The shadow is God's shadow. He is the shadow in a dry and barren land. He wants to bring us into a deeper relationship with Himself. He desires that we will hear his voice better. He wants us to see our utter helplessness and to realise that we can do nothing without Him (Ps.139:1-12).
He wants to bring us to a place where we will stop questioning Him and instead follow Him unconditionally. He wants to bring us to a place of deeper obedience and trust in Him (Heb.10:38).
Ultimately, we need to know that we must welcome the shadows and surrender to God because even in the shadows He is near and He is engaging with us intensely. God uses darkness to help us find an inner spiritual path where we can walk in the light of His spirit (Ps.139:23-24). There we learn to live in faith instead of relying on what we can see and feel. As we walk in the light of His spirit we learn to live in complete reliance on the trustworthy One, the Supporter, the Encourager and the God of all Comfort. We need to reach a point where we stop relying on our own strength and where we live in humility - without arrogance and pride. Darkness and inaccessible light are manifestations of the same God.
