How to Read the BibleMuestra
Why Don’t We Read the Bible?
A couple of years ago, I gave a talk about the importance of reading the Bible.
Afterward, someone told me, “I know it’s important to read the Bible. People keep telling me, and I know they’re right. But nobody ever tells me how to read the Bible.”
Maybe that’s why only 1 out of 7 Canadian Christians read the Bible every week.[1] We know it’s important, but we just don’t know how to do it.
This week, I want to get very practical about how to read the Bible—actually, how to build a lifelong habit of reading the Bible.
But first, I want to tell you that it’s totally worth it.
Lifeway Research conducted a study to determine which Christian spiritual disciplines seem to correlate with spiritual maturity.
They discovered that the number one spiritual discipline that’s correlated with spiritual maturity is reading the Bible. Nothing else came close.[2]
If you want to grow as a Christian man, you need to read the Bible. The question is: how?
That’s what we’re going to talk about this week. Believe me, it will make a difference in your life!
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Scripture. Help me take some practical steps this week to learn how to read it better. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Reflection: What makes it hard for you to read the Bible?
