What Jesus Said About Fathers and Mothers Causing Spiritual WoundsMuestra
How to be healed from our wounds (1)
To be healed from the wounds of our fathers and mothers, we will first and foremost have to understand the true character of God. Because we grow up in a broken world, the world and also the homes in which we grow up give us a distorted image of God.
Please carefully read through the following Scriptures that explain God's true character. The question is: To what extent do your own feelings and thoughts align with what the Bible says about God? Understanding the truth about God is the first step towards healing.
God Is present everywhere and knows everything: Ps.139:1-3 – O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thoughts from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, and are intimately acquainted with all my ways.
God Is holy: Leviticus 20:26 – You shall be holy to me, for I the LORD am holy and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be mine. This means there is nothing evil, detestable, or flaw in God.
God is absolute truth: John 16:13 - When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
God compassion, gracious and lovingkindness: Deuteronomy 34:6 – The LORD, the LORD God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin.
God is faithful, righteous, just, upright: Deuteronomy 32:4 – A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is He.
A story: Paco: A story by Ernest Hemingway, titled The Capital of the World, tells the story of a father and son who lived in Spain. As often happens, the relationship between father and son becomes tense and gradually disintegrates altogether. Consequently, the son turned his back on his father and went his own way. But the father began an extended search for his lost and rebellious son. At his wits’ end, the father placed an advertisement in one of Madrid’s newspapers, a simple advertisement: “Dear Paco, meet me tomorrow at noon in front of the office of the Madrid Newspaper. All is forgiven. I love you.” At noon the following afternoon, 800 young men named Paco were waiting in front of the newspaper’s office, all seeking their fathers’ forgiveness.
