Everyday Life in Revelation Part 9: Delivered JusticeMuestra
When it comes to divine judgment, timing is everything. God will not pour out the fullness of His wrath until the right time for that wrath to arrive. He did not bring the Israelites into Canaan and cast out the inhabitants of the promised land until the Canaanites’ iniquity was complete, until the point came when their wickedness fully merited the punishment inflicted. Jesus warned that judgment would fall on the Pharisees and scribes once they filled up the measure of their fathers’ sins, once their iniquity fully earned the coming wrath.
The same truth is expressed also in Revelation 16. The enemies of God are forced to drink blood from the seas, lakes and rivers. This is because these people have shed the blood of the saints and prophets. They have persecuted believers. This kind of blood shedding merits punishment of this magnitude.
To be sure, God uses these events, and the events we suffer from day to day to call the world to repentance. God uses these events to remind us of our weakness and frailty .Not every natural disaster is caused by a specific sin, but every disaster does remind us that life is short and we need to be prepared to meet our Creator in eternity. Today, think on your frailty, your mortality and if given the chance share with someone around you the good news that despite our brokenness we can have a friendship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.
