The Final Journey

DÍA 9 DE 17

An Audience with the King

What started out as false accusations back in Jerusalem, landing Paul in prison for years, results in Paul continuing to gain an audience with increasingly important people.

Read: Acts 25:13-27 (NLT)

Explore the Theme: After years in prison and personal appeals, Paul’s case finally makes its way to the king. Everyone expected an account of evildoing, but the charges boil down to the ongoing dispute over whether Jesus is dead or alive. Why do you think Paul was so determined to be heard by the king? What does Paul’s patience and persistence tell you about his commitment to the truth?

Ask God: Paul was battling for his freedom along with fighting the court of public opinion. He was devoted to changing the narrative and clearing the confusion with the truth that Jesus is alive. Think about a time you’ve had to fight for something you believe or persuade others of your truth. How did that make you feel toward God? Toward others? What can you take away from this passage that encourages or challenges you?

Live it Out: Although it was a Roman custom, the face-to-face, accuser-to-accused conversation has modern day application. Ask God if there is any relational conflict in your life that could benefit from a conversation to clear the air. Take some time to pray for wisdom, humility and if God so leads, opportunity to share your truth. A single conversation may not mean reconciliation, but it can be a step toward repair.
