Faith Over Fear: Transitioning to CollegeMuestra
Peace Amidst Chaos
God is everlasting. He is constant and unchanging. He is as sturdy as a rock that cannot be moved.
In yesterday’s reading, I mentioned that I struggled with homesickness my freshman year of college. Between living in a new city, being away from my friends and family, and other moving factors, college is anything but constant, unchanging, or sturdy. A lot of variables are in play and homesickness ensues for many.
Homesickness was the root of much of my uneasiness throughout freshman year. It was not always present, but in times of quietness, the somber feelings would rush into my mind. The thing that took me a while to understand was that it did not matter where I physically was.
Life is ever changing. God is not.
People move to new cities, get new jobs, and meet new people. God is everywhere, never veers from loving us, and knows every human better than anyone.
Our minds are filled with chaos. God is full of peace.
We should trust in the Lord no matter where we are because He is an everlasting rock. Though your physical location changed, your spiritual location in God has not. He is with you no matter where you go.
When you are alone in your dorm room or in the library studying and homesickness is tugging at you, don’t let in your anxieties and sadness. Let God fill the quiet. Say a quick prayer, or open your Bible. God is constant in the chaos.
Prayer
Dear Father, You are so good to us. Your divine nature is constant and all powerful. Help us to trust in Your ways. Deliver us through our toughest battles by reminding us of Your love. No matter where we are in the world, we know that You are right by our side, looking over us and protecting us. For all of these things, we thank You. Amen.
