Stopping and seeking God
You stop immediately at a stop sign, don't you? You know it's dangerous if you choose not to.
Don't you think it would be great if there were such obvious stop signs for other areas in our lives? On the other hand, God doesn't expect us to recognize such dangers all alone...nor should we.
When I suddenly became known in the media as "the singing flight attendant" many years ago, endless opportunities arose! I was constantly on the go, even working at night to get the most out of the moment. The phrase my parents heard most often from me was "I don't have time." You can imagine that there wasn't much time for God, either.
When I was about to leave for a very important appointment in Vienna, I collapsed in the bathroom. My ear hit the doorknob so hard when I fell that I eventually had to go to the hospital and get stitches. That's how God firmly said "Stop" in my life. I needed that moment to re-evaluate.
I hope you don't let it get to a point like this before you realize that stopping is sometimes more important than continuing to forge ahead.
Today I live differently. If I'm completely honest with myself and with you, success comes much more quickly and easily now to me (glory to God!), success that I wasn't able to experience myself at that time due to the many overtime hours I was working.
How could this be? I'm happy to tell you. I hope you take this verse seriously because it has the power to change your life: "Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart." (Psalm 37:4, NKJV).
God wants to give you everything He desires for you, but for Him to do that, you often must stop—and make sure you're living in connection with Him. A stop with God is more important than constantly pushing ahead.
You are a miracle!
