Getting to Know the Prophets

DÍA 24 DE 30

Daniel

In 605 BC, Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon, threatened Israel and captured her wealthiest families, including Daniel and his three friends. These four hostages struggled to maintain their Jewish identity in a pagan culture. There are three main instances in this book where we see God's faithfulness to Daniel. Because God showed His faithfulness to these exiles, we see the bigger picture of God's faithfulness to us as His people.

Daniel 1 reveals God’s faithfulness in the king’s favor to Daniel and his companions in their choice of food in a way that preserved Daniel. In Daniel 3, in the fiery furnace, God showed His ability to save, even in impossible circumstances. This miracle exalted God's faithfulness and showed that God had not forgotten His people – even in a foreign land. Finally, the account of Daniel in the lions’ den in chapter 6 demonstrated God's faithfulness in His ability to save from death.

God is faithful to His people even in exile. God does not change based on location or life circumstances. Daniel reminds us that God is faithful to His people.

  1. In which areas of your life are you most tempted to doubt God’s faithfulness?
  2. How has God shown Himself faithful in your past?

Prayer: God, give me faith to trust in your sovereign plan even when things are not going my way. Thank you for your faithfulness.
