Hope: Warfare Prayers & Encouragement for Persecuted ChristiansMuestra
Prayer Works
Since the apostles' time, Christians have faced persecution, and governments have tried to stop the spread of the gospel. The church is a threat to the power of darkness because there is freedom from sin and demonic oppression wherever light exists. At the time of this writing, the lives of Christians and other unsaved souls precious in God’s eyes are under the threat of terrorism. Christians and unsaved souls in Afghanistan, Nigeria, and other nations need God’s people to hold back the powers of darkness.
God’s people must intentionally seek God’s face, pray, and speak life in the face of great opposition to the truth. Today, we will pray for believers in Afghanistan, Nigeria, and other places God impresses upon our hearts.
Before praying, read Acts 12:5-11 (KJV) attentively and let hope arise in you:
Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.
When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
The church’s prayer saved Peter and gave him comfort or peace when his life was under threat. Our prayers can do the same thing for our brothers and sisters.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you because you are mighty to save and deliver. We humble ourselves before you, and we look to you to deliver our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan, Nigeria, and other places in the world from the threat of terrorism. In the name of Jesus, send your angels to deliver them from violence and the expectations of their enemies.
Please pray with the Holy Spirit and your understanding (1 Corinthians 14:15).
Please consider sharing and completing this devotional with a group of believers. Together, we can enforce victory over the enemy.
