DÍA 7 DE 7

The Weakest Tribe and The Biggest Excuse

Let’s look back at Saul and Gideon for a moment. They were chosen for important tasks. In the case of Gideon, he was approached DIRECTLY by an angel of the Lord. Saul received a message DIRECTLY from a prophet of God.

In our search for purpose, many of us pray for God to send us a direct sign. Yet, here are two examples where God gave clear, precise, in-person messages, and the recipients gave excuses. Not only did they give excuses, but they also gave the SAME excuse.

“I’m weak.”

“I’m small.”

“My family isn’t important.”

“I don’t have the right last name.”

“Everyone only listens when certain people talk...but me?? nope”

This is where the impostor does some of his best work. It surreptitiously permeates your mind with messages of classism, racism, sexism, and every ‘ism’ it can think of. The impostor feeds on the sinful messages of societal structures and yet finds a way to rationalize them...causing you to believe you lack the equipment to make a difference.

The more we feed on the impostor’s messages, the harder it is to fulfill even the simplest portion of our purpose. And yet, the less faith we have, the more God pursues us.

He wants us! He doesn’t NEED us. But He loves us, and He wants us. So, He sends an angel when we are hiding in the pit. He carries a message when we have covered ourselves with the camping equipment. He sends His Spirit when we go back to the fields because we haven’t fully embraced the calling on our lives.

The impostor tells us we can’t. The impostor tells us we will fail, and we are frauds.

God tells us, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Maybe your word isn’t ‘prophet.’ Perhaps your word is doctor, or activist, or barber. Or maybe your word is teacher, CEO or preacher.

Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a __________ to the nations.

Fill in the blank with your word and know that God already saw you and set you apart.

I hope you are comforted by this. No matter what the impostor says, God says He has appointed you, equipped you, and He will pursue you!

Boast about your weakness because God doesn’t equip impostors.
