Consecration
"Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, because the Lord will do wonders among you tomorrow.” (Joshua 3:5)
Over the years I have read dozens of books by or about D.L. Moody. But before you get too impressed, many of his books were very short reads.
As I found myself reading a 4th biography about him last year, I felt overwhelmingly stirred that here I am more than 100 years after Moody lived and ministered and I am still being stirred by his consecration to the Lord. That’s what consecration to the Lord can do. It allows your life to have a profoundly greater impact than would seem humanly possible because you are totally committed and surrendered to the Lord.
As we fast and pray for God to move in greater ways in our lives, and in the lives of people around us, the roar is one of consecration. We are submitting and committing ourselves once again to God. We are desiring to be satisfied in Him and His purposes alone. We are laying down our rights and picking up our cross, which Jesus said we would have to carry.
Consecration means to set yourself apart as holy to the Lord, to dedicate yourself completely to Him and His purposes.
Joshua told the people “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” (Joshua 3:5)
There is something about consecrating ourselves through fasting, prayer and repentance that prepares us for the wonders God wants to do next in our life.
And we will never be able to calculate all God will do through our lives or the lives of others when we are fully committed and consecrated to Him!
Prayer:
Lord, help me to roar with consecration in my generation. I declare by faith that you want to do wonders through my life. Prepare me in every way for your work in me and through me for your supreme glory.
