DÍA 7 DE 7

You, the Saint

I’ve always loved Hebrews chapter 11. It’s a list of men and women who disrupted our world by belonging to another. Each of these Saints—Moses, Enoch, Sarah, Daniel, and so on—chased the invisible. Their faith moved them beyond the limitations of their world, creating new playing fields for God to move in. They endured the struggle by seeing the One who is invisible.

The world wasn’t worthy of them, but they were exactly what this world needed. Their otherness was an impetus for change, glorious change. They were disruptors, moving humanity toward the promise of redemption. And now because we are all found in Christ, you and I can join their number. We can become Hebrews 11 men and women!

For far too long we’ve been content to be “nice Christians,” fitting in with the status quo. But our lives should disrupt the ways of the world, unveiling a new way to be human. The humanity that’s brimming over with a life that knows no end. The humanity that reaches backward and forward, touching every tribe, nation, and tongue. This is the life and fraternity we were made for. It is an eternal life pulsing with the divine DNA that is uniquely expressed through each facet of God’s good creation.

This is the good life.

But none of this can become personal until you believe you were created for saintly glory. Yes, you. Faith in general does you no good. Faith must become personal and specific. God gave His Son for you. Whether you like it or not, you’re part of the story. No matter how much you kick or scream or deny, the narrative doesn’t change. The story of glory is not about another place or time, and it’s certainly not just about someone else.

Wherever you find yourself today, you are marked for glory.

If you feel lost or disoriented, that’s okay. All of us are traveling into something other than where we have been. So ask for eyes to see. Ask for the Helper to guide you. In your humility, you’ll find strength—a strength to open yourself to the mystery of life—the good life that was written on your heart before the beginning of time.

My friend, don’t deny who you are. After all, to whom much is given, much is required.

You are a Saint. Now become one.

Saints With Addison Bevere

The Bible uses the word Christian to describe followers of Jesus a total of three times. But there’s another identifier that fills the pages of the New Testament—a word we’ve mistakenly reserved for the halo-wearing elite, losing something profound in the process. Saints. Wrapped in this ancient word is an invitation to discover who God created you to be and awaken to the life you were meant to know.
