20/20 Vision: Eyes On Jesus Muestra
Our Future Hope
When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, we have all made them, but very few of us have actually kept them. According to an article from Forbes, studies show that when it comes to New Year’s resolutions, “only 8% accomplish them”, leaving the margin for success narrow. Fortunately, our future hope is not based on our performance, but rather our hope is in Jesus Christ, whom Revelation 1:4 refers to as the one “who is, who was, and who is to come.”
The vision of our future hope in Jesus was written down by John in Revelation 1:9-20. Jesus is described in verses 13-16, “and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.”
Aren’t we thankful that our future hope doesn’t depend on whether or not we accomplish something, or whether or not we have been good enough, or achieved enough? Thankfully, our future hope is in Jesus:
His sacrifice,
His mercy,
His forgiveness,
His peace,
His truth,
His love,
His grace.
Our future hope is in who Jesus is, what he has done, and what he will do.
Making the choice to fix your eyes on Jesus, by seeking to know Him and love Him more this year, will change everything.
Are you resting securely in knowing that your future hope is set in Christ? Who do you need to share the good news of Jesus with this year? He is our future hope.
A Prayer:
Dear Lord, We praise you and thank you that you are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We are so grateful that we don’t have to depend on our failed attempts at resolutions, but rather we trust in you who is called “faithful and true”. Thank you for being our sure and secure target in 2020. With our eyes on you, Jesus, we trust you to be our bright hope and our future. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
