Kingdom Do’s & Don’ts—Disciple Makers Series #7Sample

Kingdom Do’s & Don’ts—Disciple Makers Series #7

DAY 1 OF 6

Seek Ye First

Do not worry about your life.

Do not worry about what you will wear.

Do not worry about any of your needs.

There is a condition for God meeting all our needs: first seeking His kingdom and what is right. That is harder than we think.

God’s Kingdom is what we have been reading about in Matthew 5 and 6.

—God releases blessing on the poor in spirit, those who are hungry and thirsty for what is right, etc.

—God’s kingdom law: obedience to His law at the heart level not just external obedience.

—Three disciplines of the kingdom: giving, praying and fasting.

I challenge all of us today to go back and read Matthew 5 and 6 and let God poke us again with His Kingdom rules. Let Him remind us again where we committed to be obedient—but somehow have not followed through with action. Let Him remind us that His Kingdom is not just rules; we are filled with His power to live Kingdom rules with joy and hope everyday. So start again today—and let tomorrow take care of itself.

Time to Pray

Father, as I look back on these two chapters, I am reminded that I have still not scheduled fasting into this month. So today I do that. I am reminded that I am salt in my world. I need to be releasing flavour and blessing to people; I am required to preserve truth (keep evil from winning). So give me an eye for needy people to release hope to them, give me a boldness to stand up for what is true and right and let me take time to fast over the next few days (to see Jesus breakthrough in my life). In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Day 2

About this Plan

Kingdom Do’s & Don’ts—Disciple Makers Series #7

Matthew writes to God’s people and walks them on a journey that will take them from where they are to be Disciple Makers.  This is the seventh of 27 devotional plans walking us through the book of Matthew.  Jesus talks about the “do’s and don’ts” of His kingdom.  How to sum up the Kingdom: see others like God sees them, and treat them like God treats them.
