Kingdom Rules (Part 2) - Disciple Makers Series #5Sample
Justice, Mercy and Peace
Wow, this one is another tough one.
It is all about our attitude toward others – those who take advantage of us and those in need.
First, a discussion about justice. God is a just God – and He loves justice. He is not saying that justice should be forgotten. God holds rulers accountable for administering justice. However, God balances justice and mercy. God requires justice -that is why Jesus died for all sin. God wants to release mercy – that is why He waits patiently for people to repent. If they choose to reject God’s mercy then they will face His justice. Also, justice never satisfies anyone. Everyone loses – and no one wins. When mercy triumphs, then there are winners. However, mercy requires sacrifice. Jesus sacrificed and we need to sacrifice for mercy to triumph.
Are you prepared to sacrifice to see mercy triumph?
Second, our attitude toward the needy. Again, this is a heart attitude. You cannot meet every need. This is a challenge to have a heart willing to give when God asks – every time. Sometimes it is much and sometimes it is little. Again, mercy is required. A heart to sacrifice so that people can be blessed. There are lots of winners then.
Time to pray
Father, You love mercy. Teach me to have Your heart here – I want to love mercy because I know that You will take care of me. The trouble is, I struggle when I must wait for You to give me what I deserve. To be honest, I would rather have it in heaven where it will never pass away rather than here on this earth. Having said that, I know my heart. I will get bitter and upset if I must give all the time and justice is delayed all the time. So help me this week to release mercy so others can win. Also give me unbelievable strength – or release some of Your blessing to me here on this earth. I ask this in Jesus’ name Amen.
