God's to-do list I'm betting that your chore list at home looks a lot like this: Clean your room. Make your bed. Brush your teeth. Take out the trash. God has a to-do list for you today too, but it looks a little different: "to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men" (Titus 3:1,2 NIV). You think this is tough? It is! Still, God says, "Do it. No excuses." Yet He doesn't expect you to do it on your own. He knows if you get to do exactly what you want to do, you will prize trash and spend your time on things that don't matter. But when you are plugged into Jesus through your baptism, His power becomes your power. You get to bear fruit for Jesus because that's what you are made to do. Apple trees don't grow trash. Apple trees bear apples because that's what they were made to do. Christians do good things because it's what God made us to do. God has made you to do His to-do list. Maybe it's not so tough after all.
