5 Prayers to Stop Thinking Negatively About Your SpouseSample

Today’s Prayer: Protect me from the enemy's lies.
“Lord, I pray you will guard my heart and mind from the enemy’s lies. Help me to remember that the enemy’s way is destruction, but that you have overcome the devil and all his schemes and desire to give life to the full. Amen.”
In our worst moments, it’s tempting to view our spouse as an enemy. Sometimes, it may seem like they’re the one person standing between you and your desired outcome. If you’ve maxed out the budget and they call you on it. Or, if you want to just relax all weekend, and they have a list of projects to work on. If you’re certain you loaded the dishwasher correctly, then they point out that their way is actually the right way …
Don’t make this common mistake!
Because you do have a real and active enemy—one who wishes ill upon you and wants to see you fall and who would love to see your marriage crumble. 1 Peter 5:8 says he is “looking for someone to devour.”
The devil would love for you to cower in fear, but in Christ there is absolutely no need to fear. Jesus has overcome the enemy and all his evil schemes. Our job in response is to align our hearts and minds with this truth and to pray for God’s protection.
When we subtly start believing that our spouse is the enemy, we are no longer on guard against the true enemy. We are no longer utilizing our thought life in ways that will build and protect our marriage. Today equip yourself through prayer. Set your mind on the truth: In Christ, you have the victory. As we read in today’s scripture, we can stand strong in the Lord and in His power. Ask for God’s protection, reject the enemy’s lies, and stand firm in Christ.
