His Glory, My Story: A Study of His Glory in Hebrews

DAY 3 OF 8

Day 3: Access to His Glorious Presence

Devotional:
The glory of God has always been tied to His presence. In the Old Testament, symbols like the pillar of fire, the mountain where Moses received the commandments, and the Holy of Holies in the temple reflected this. God's presence was awe-inspiring, but access was limited because only the high priest could enter the Holy of Holies, and even then, only once a year, with fear and trembling.

But everything changed when Jesus died on the cross. Matthew 27:51 describes the moment the temple curtain was torn from top to bottom. This curtain, nearly 10 centimeters thick and towering 18 meters high, represented the separation between God and humanity. When it tore, it symbolized the removal of that separation through Jesus' sacrifice.

Hebrews 10:19-22 explains that we now have confidence to enter the Holy of Holies—not through rituals or sacrifices, but through the blood of Jesus. He created a "new and living way" for us to approach God, giving us full assurance and clean consciences. No more fear, no more guilt. We have direct access to the glorious presence of God, not because of our worthiness, but because of Jesus' worthiness.

This access changes everything. We no longer live for His presence but from His presence. His glory becomes the foundation of our lives, shaping how we think, feel, and act. His glory becomes our story! The question is, how do we respond to this incredible truth? Do we confidently draw near to God each day, aware of His closeness, or do we neglect this privilege?

Next Step:
Set aside 15 minutes to intentionally spend time with your Father. Use this time to thank Him for making His presence accessible through Jesus. Reflect on areas in your life where you’ve allowed guilt or fear to hold you back, and surrender them to Him in prayer.
