Bible Study 1: Mentorship Like JesusSample

Seeing Potential in Others
Focus
Imagine you’re watching a young person learning something new and growing in confidence. Notice how powerful it is to see potential in someone else. How might God be inviting you to notice someone’s gifts today?
Jesus chose his mentees by seeing potential in them. He saw fishermen with patience and perseverance and recognized how they could bring their gifts to God’s Kingdom. Discipleship requires us to recognize and cultivate the good in others, nurturing qualities God has already placed in them.
Apply
How might you nurture the gifts and talents of those around you? Point out someone’s gift to them this week.
Respond
God, help me see the gifts in others and encourage them as they grow. Show me how to inspire them to be all they can be in you. Amen.
