The Mysteries of Praise

DAY 4 OF 7

Praise in Fulfilment

John the Baptist is well known as the forerunner of Christ, and indeed what miraculous circumstances surrounded his birth to Zechariah the priest and Elizabeth. For decades, this devout couple prayed for a child, repeatedly contending with the pain of waiting and the whispers of impossibility as they grew older. When the Angel of the Lord appeared to Zechariah, proclaiming that he would have a son, Zechariah doubted. His disbelief didn’t stop God’s Plan, but it left him temporarily unable to speak—a silent season in which God’s Promise grew physically and spiritually.

Finally, the day of fulfillment came with John’s birth. At the moment of naming, Zechariah’s tongue was loosened, and his first act was to praise God. His declaration of God’s Goodness caused awe to spread through their community, leading others to declare what God did. When we are caught up in joyful moments, it can be tempting to revel in that feeling and forget the Source. We may even ascribe it to our actions, our fervent prayers, or patience. Zechariah reminds us to direct our emotions outwardly by praising God in moments of fulfillment.

The mystery of Praise is that it magnifies God and draws others to Him. When we publicly praise God for His fulfilled Promises in our lives, it plants seeds of faith in those who witness it. Like Zechariah, let your Praise overflow—not just in private, but in a way that causes others to marvel at God’s Goodness and Power.

Reflection

What Promises has God fulfilled in your life recently or in the past? How can you share your Praise for these blessings in a way that points others to God?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your Faithfulness in my life. Even in my moments of doubt, You remain true to Your Promises. Help me to recognize the gifts You’ve given me and may my Praise always return Glory to You and inspire others to trust in Your Goodness. Amen.
