I Can and I Will Through God’s Power - 7 Ways to Live Boldly for Christ by Ayub Paul

DAY 3 OF 7

3. Stop living in pride, be humble like Jesus Christ

I consider pride, the ultimate sin! The book of Isaiah in the Holy Bible shows us a word exchange between God and Lucifer, an angel before he was cast down and called Satan. According to the Holy Bible, Satan, believing he could be like God, wanted to establish his throne. This arrogance led him to rebel against God's authority, ultimately resulting in his fall from heaven. Pride is the reason Hell was created. From a Biblical perspective, all those who believe in God, know that Hell is a place of eternal separation from God. It's for those who reject Jesus, follow evil, and refuse to turn away from their sins. According to the Bible, Hell is a real place, it is not fictional or a metaphor. The media, culture, and the overuse of various cuss words involving the word “Hell” have made us desensitized to this concept. Here are three ways to remove the sin of pride from your life.

(i). Start Living with Humility (James 4:10)
Consider a tree full of fruits. If it refused to share its fruit because it was too proud, then its existence would have no purpose and meaning. It would be useless. Similarly, out of selfish ambition, when we refuse to share our gifts and talents, we tend to forget why they were given to us. God gives us talent, skill, and resources not for ourselves but in service to God and others. When Jesus lived on Earth, He had incredible power and authority, which was evident through the miracles he performed. He was God in flesh. The Bible, written by the power of the Holy Spirit, shows us that He healed the sick, raised the dead, calmed the storm, multiplied two fish and five loaves, and fed a multitude. Despite having all that power, Jesus chose humility, which showed in his actions. He did not use His miraculous powers to intimidate, manipulate, or punish those who doubted him.

(ii). Serve Others (Mark 10:45)
Serving others is the best way to move forward in life. Learn about Servant Leadership! In a nutshell, it means putting the needs of others before your own. Instead of focusing solely on personal growth or achievement, this approach focuses on helping those around you succeed. In believer’s terms, it means your family is not limited to blood but also includes the body of Christ. Some of the practical ways you can serve others is by contributing your time, talent, finances, or other resources to help those in need. Start finding ways to serve others. It may be something small, like helping set up chairs in the Church, sharing a kind word with someone, or helping a neighbour with their groceries.

(iii). Accountability buddy (Proverbs 27:17)
It is essential to have trustworthy and reliant people in your life who can guide and support you, especially in the areas of pride. When choosing an accountability partner, find someone who understands your goals and shares your faith and values. This person should also provide guidance as well as a rebuke, whenever hints of pride are seen in your behaviour or talk. Recognize that pride is a sin that needs to be removed, and having an accountability partner is one step closer to achieving a more humble, Christ-like attitude.
