Defeating Fear: Psalms of PeaceSample

Unshakeable Peace
Earthquakes could shake the ground. Oceans could roar and mountains could tremble. And yet, in the middle of absolute chaos, God whispers, "Be still, and know that I am God."
Psalm 46 isn't just a poem about surviving turbulence—it's a bold declaration that our peace isn't determined by our circumstances. When waters rage (literally or metaphorically), God remains our unshakeable refuge. Just as Jesus once calmed a stormy sea with a simple command, this psalm reminds us that God's presence transforms our most overwhelming moments.
"Be still" doesn't mean passive resignation. It means stopping our frantic striving, our anxious planning, our desperate attempts to control everything. Instead, we're invited to rest in the knowledge that God is God—and we are not.
He is near. He is our helper. He is in control, even when everything around us feels completely out of control.
Prayer
God, in my moments of greatest uncertainty, help me to stop fighting and start trusting. Teach me what it means to be still and know that You are God.
