DAY 9 OF 26

Day 9: John 13-Acts 1

Karla Arceo, Levite at UPPERROOM

“Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ dirty feet and dry them with his towel. Peter looked at Jesus and said, 'You’ll never wash my dirty feet—never!' John 13:5, 8-9 (TPT)

'But Peter, if you don’t allow me to wash your feet,' Jesus responded, 'then you will not be able to share life with me.'

So Peter said, 'Lord, in that case, don’t just wash my feet, wash my hands and my head too!'”

Think about this for a moment: Jesus, the all-powerful Son of God, chose to serve the lowest of the low by washing His disciples’ feet. This wasn’t just a symbolic act—it was a radical display of humility, grace, and love. Peter didn’t understand it at first, and many of us struggle with the same resistance today.

We like to think we have it all together and that we can earn our place in God’s presence. But here’s the truth: true life in Christ comes through humility and allowing Jesus to cleanse us.

Are we willing to let go of our pride and self-sufficiency and fully embrace His grace? Will we allow Jesus to wash us completely—not just parts of us, but all of us? If we want to experience more of His love, healing, and transformation in our lives, it starts by accepting His offer to serve us—just as He served His disciples.

As Andrew Murray said, “Humility is the displacement of self by the enthronement of God.” It’s time to let go of ourselves and make room for God’s transformative love in our hearts.

Take a step today—surrender those areas of pride and self-reliance, and allow Jesus to wash you, cleanse you, and transform you. When we do this, we will not only experience life in Him but also become a reflection of His love and humility to the world around us.
