21 Days of Prayer & Fasting: Lectio DivinaSample
Preparation: Today, you’ll be reading from Deuteronomy 4:32-40. Before you get started, take a moment to be aware of God’s presence right where you are. He wants to speak to you today.
Read: The first step is to read. As you read the passage the first time, write down any words or phrases that stand out to you.
Reflect: This time, reflect on the passage. As you read a second time, notice what emotions come up within yourself. Identify yourself with a specific character in the story and make a note of that as well.
Respond: Now respond. As you reread the passage, listen for God’s voice speaking to you. What is He saying, and how do you need to respond to Him?
Rest: Finally, rest in God's presence. Although many things are fighting for your attention, take a few minutes to be still in silence as you meditate on God’s Word and rest in Him.
Pray: Take a moment to pray on your own or use this prayer as a guide:
Father, I praise your name and give you thanks because you are God. You are immutable, and your love, grace, and mercy are given freely. No one else can fill my heart full of peace the way that you do. God, help me seek you in all that I do and praise your name everywhere I step. In Jesus’ name, amen.
