New Day, New Year, and New Beginnings - 31 Days of Fresh StartsSample
Jesus Makes All Things New...
Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."
Revelation 21:5 NKJV
Yes, indeed. The opening verse of the last two chapters in God’s Word reminds us that one day, all things—Will. Be. Made. New (Revelation 21:5).
Here, the Holy Spirit directs our attention through Beloved John’s vision that what matters so much to us now, as we live and move throughout our days here on earth, will one day mean so very little in the light of eternity. Every tear will be wiped away, and there will be no more death, sorrow, crying, or pain because former things have passed (Revelation 21:4). With our finite minds and limited understanding, we cannot even begin to imagine what the Alpha and Omega has in store (Isaiah 64:4).
So, let’s be reminded—the kingdom we serve is not an earthly one. As Jesus said, My kingdom is not of this world...(John 18.36).
This doesn’t minimize our desires for something new. Rather, let our new choices be enhanced by what is eternal, not only what is temporal. As we seek the Holy Spirit’s help to renew, rebuild, restore, chart a fresh course, condition, or walk through a new door, let’s weigh our decisions with Him for what will increase the fame of His name and magnify His presence for those who watch our endeavors.
Let’s consider a few points we’ve discussed these past several days. Our new choices are based on Jesus’ love and forgiveness, even when we falter. He already sees us as new, and the Holy Spirit is transforming us from the inside out to match His vantage point. How we cooperate with Him matters. What consumes our thoughts is oh-so-vital, and we must walk in love. People just like us have experienced His transforming touch.
So, let’s begin this journey of walking in the new thing He is doing. Are you ready? Me, too. Let’s go!
