Advent: Join the Triumph

DAY 22 OF 26

The Scripture:

"Jesus also did many other things. What if every one of them were written down? I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written" (John 21:25, NIRV).

The Story:

Have you ever met someone who has a lot of stories? Someone who has story after story. Maybe it’s your parents and they are always talking about things that happened in their past. Maybe you have a friend at your lunch table who always does something wild over the weekend and always wants to tell you about it Monday morning. Or maybe your grandparents love telling you stories about hiking to school uphill both ways in several feet of snow. People who have a lot of stories usually have experienced a lot, and this verse in John shows that Jesus experienced a lot.

The Book of John is one of four Gospels, which are books of the Bible that tell about Jesus’ Life on Earth. Matthew, Mark, and Luke wrote their books based on eyewitness accounts, meaning that people saw Jesus and told Matthew, Mark, and Luke and they wrote it down. Later on, John, who was a disciple of Jesus, wrote his eyewitness story of Jesus and included stories he thought were important that Matthew, Mark, or Luke chose not to tell. Here’s the crazy thing: John ends his book saying, now we know everything about Jesus, and if we wrote down everything Jesus did, there would not be enough books in the world.

The Good News of Jesus is that He brought Victory everywhere He went. Jesus took care of our greatest need by defeating sin, death, and evil on the Cross. But Jesus also brought Victory by teaching us what it means to follow God, by healing people, and loving people. Jesus can still do miracles and Jesus can still bring Victory. Wherever you need victory, know that God is more than able.

The Triumph:

Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Meaning that, if Jesus could heal someone in the times of the Bible, He can do it again. God still answers prayers and wants to bring victory before every situation. I want to invite you to pray for something you need God to answer. Where do you need a Victory, where do you need help, where do you need healing. Jesus loves you and has Great Plans for you!
