He Is...Light
John 1:5 says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” And in John 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
Jesus brought light into the world when he was born. He was both fully God and fully human and lived a pure and blameless life so that one day, he could take the punishment for our sins upon himself. As Jesus’ followers, it is our job to reflect his light to a dark and unbelieving world, pointing them to the one who is the true light.
Journal Prompt:
In this season, the dark of winter is brightened by Christmas lights and candles, reminding us that Jesus is the Light of the World. Today, when you see lights turn on or candles lit, take a moment to thank God for sending His Son, Jesus, to save us from our sins.
- How have you experienced the light of Jesus in your own life?
- In what ways can you reflect Jesus’ light to others?

About this Plan

We all know how easy it is to get swept up in Christmas planning, shopping, decorating, and countless gatherings. These things are exciting and festive, but they can sometimes pull us away from what Christmas is truly about—the arrival of Emmanuel, “God with us.” The Good News is that, in a world filled with so much uncertainty, He is our Hope. He is our Love. He is our Peace, our Joy, our Light. This is the gift of Christmas, for each and every one of us.
