In the Hospital? Comfort and Encouragement for You

DAY 4 OF 7

When It’s Hard to Pray

Your mind and body may be busy fighting infection, dealing with powerful medicines, focusing on rest and healing, and following the doctors’ and nurses’ instructions. If you have friends and family who can hold you up in prayer, now is the time to rely on their prayers.

Whether you’ve got prayer support or you’re facing this crisis on your own, know that God is near you right now. If you even just call out His name in Your heart, He’s listening and holding you close. He’s here to carry you through each moment as you put your trust in Him when you can’t see your next step.

The Holy Spirit is also ready to pray for you as you ask Him to:

… We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Romans 8:26 NIV

You don’t need to know words to pray. Direct your groans to your heavenly Father in faith! But if you do feel up to more, a great way to talk to God when you don’t know what to say is to pray along with Scripture. The readings today include some prayers you can make your own.

A Place to Start in Prayer

Holy Spirit, thank You for standing in the gap for me when I don’t know what to pray. Thank You, God, that as soon as I start to reach out for You, You’re here with me. I’m taking refuge in You. Do wonderful things in my life—I’m going to praise You now in the middle of my mess, and praise You later, too, as I see You work. Thank You for giving me Your Word that I can turn into prayer back to You. Rescue me, answer me, and be merciful to me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

More for You

Life.Church has pastors and volunteers ready to lift you up in prayer when you share your request: Ask for prayer here.
