Intensity in Tent City (S3-E6)Sample
Are you hungry?
“People are hungry for the words of your Rabbi—Jesus.”
Jesus compares Himself to bread: “I am the bread that gives life.” Bread nourishes, satisfies, and provides energy. Bread helps you move from an empty stomach to a feeling of fullness.
Jesus wants to fill you. Completely.
He wants to quench your thirst. Forever.
Are you hungry? Do you crave more of Jesus? Do you want to understand more? Follow more? Step out more? Know and do more? See more results? Experience more intimacy? More of Him?
Then just go to Jesus.
People who are filled with Jesus are attractive.
For example, my brother is a chef. He cooks well, and when I see him in the kitchen, I want to eat with him. The combination of flavors, colors, and aromas—man, he’s really good at it. As soon as I walk in, I get hungry and want to sneak into the kitchen for a taste. Do you know that feeling?
His cooking skills stir up my appetite. It makes me hungry. Eager.
In the same way, what you do and how you live with Jesus affects others. When others see Jesus in you, it makes them hungry—they want more of Jesus. They want to know Him better. Follow Him. Is your walk with Him attractive? Do you notice this around you?
What’s needed for this is for you to stay close to Jesus. That you know Him personally, know His words, and live them. That you “feed” on Him; after all, He is the bread that gives life. And Jesus wants to give you life—life in all its fullness.
In our house, we have a sign that says, “The best thing you can do for the people around you is to become more like Jesus.”
I think that’s true.
It shows something to people around you. It makes them “hungry” for Jesus and wanting to know Him. It shows that Jesus is working through you. That He, as the bread of life, is serving, feeding, and blessing them.
Do you have that kind of “hunger”?
Take these questions to reflect on:
- Are you hungry for more of Jesus?
- Can/will Jesus feed others through you? Are you available?
Prayer: “Lord Jesus, You are the One who truly fulfills. You are the bread of life. You, and You alone. Lord, help me to step away from all ‘substitute’ fulfillments and continually be filled by You and with You. Lord, I pray again: You and You alone. And Lord, let it be that those around me are blessed by this and see You. Amen.”
