Prayer 101Sample
Prayer is for Guidance & deliverance.
Matthew 6:13 says, “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” This verse tells us to pray for God to lead and deliver us. Praying for God’s guidance is powerful but can be hard because sometimes the direction we receive isn’t what we want. As we pray for God to direct our steps, we need to be ready to follow His directions. That might look like putting Him first in relationships, finances, or other priorities. Many times, guidance looks like simply putting the word into practice in our lives. It's easy to say we want His will, but if we want to see God’s will done, we have to say yes to His instructions to walk in it. Praying for deliverance and protection is an important part of prayer. My mother’s prayers may very well be the reason I am still alive today. But being delivered goes beyond physical protection. He also speaks of protection in the face of evil. He wants to protect against all of the devil’s plans to kill, steal, and destroy.
As we pray for God’s guidance in our lives, we also want to pray for God’s guidance in the church. Jesus said he would be the one to build the Church (Matthew 16:18). The Church is meant to be His bride, marked by His presence, power, and love. Pray for the church to shine brightly, full of God’s love and forgiveness, for the Gospel to be upheld and shared, and pray for the lost to be drawn in, found, and discipled. Pray for God to lead and guide the church, for all the leaders and all the members to follow His guidance and walk in His deliverance.
