RESPONSE:
Yesterday, we reflected on the call to dwell with God. Today, we marvel at the mystery that God has chosen to dwell–not only with us–but within us. Paul's prayer in Ephesians unmasks a reality too great to fully grasp: that out of His glorious riches, God would strengthen us with power through His Spirit in our inner being, so that Christ Himself may make His home in our hearts.
We are invited to be rooted and established in God’s love—a love so vast that it surpasses knowledge, stretching beyond width, length, height, and depth. This is not a love we can entirely comprehend, but one we are meant to experience. It's a love that fills us to the measure of all the fullness of God, transforming us from the inside out.
Revelation 4:8 echoes the same anthem of the living creatures in Isaiah: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty." This unending song from the throne in Heaven is a ceaseless declaration of God’s unparalleled holiness. Yet, the Holy One chooses to make His dwelling within us. What mercy and grace!
God, in His mercy, chooses us to be His dwelling place. How humbling that the One who is beyond comprehension would make His home in our hearts. To know that the God who is eternally worshiped desires to inhabit our hearts should compel us to respond. Our response, then, can and should be a life of worship. Not merely in words or songs, but in the very way we live—rooted in His love, aware of His holiness, and filled with His fullness.
PRAYER:
Lord, You are holy beyond all words, and yet You have chosen to make Your dwelling within us. What a mercy it is that You would look upon us with love, not because of who we are or what we have done, but because of who You are. Strengthen us, we pray, by the power of Your Spirit in our inner being. Let us be rooted and established in Your love, able to grasp the immeasurable depth and width of Christ’s love. May we live in response to this love, echoing with the cry of heaven: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty.” Teach us to see Your glory filling the earth and to live in awe of Your presence. Amen.
