Nine Biblical Principles for Judging ProphecySample
This is the only subjective principle of the nine principles used to judge prophecy. All others are based on an objective fact of the Word. This one is based on how the prophecy given bears witness with your spirit.
The spirit of the prophet and the spirit of prophecy are as readable as the front page of a newspaper. If the prophet is arrogant, proud, elitist, and calls attention to himself more than the message he bears…run!
Righteousness produces joy and peace in the Holy Ghost. Do you want to discover joy and peace? The answer is to live by God’s standard, and you will have it. Forget your man-made rules. They will make you as bitter as gall and about as lovable as an angry pit bull.
Any form of joy or peace that bypasses righteousness is the demonic spirit of religiosity. A man who prophesies and does not pay his tithes has a demon spirit of religiosity. A person who does not pay his bills or work to provide for his own yet claims to have deep spiritual gifts is in deception and is demonstrating a demon spirit of religiosity.
Never ask God to provide what you can provide for yourself. God provides worms for birds, but He does not throw them down their throats. The birds have to go get them! God gave us two ends with which to face the crises of life: a behind to sit on and a brain with which to think. Get up and go get it, because God will only provide what you can’t!
I encourage every pastor to use the God-given authority that you have to bring the spiritual mavericks in your church and anyone whom Satan will send to your church under control. Sit them down publicly, sit them down boldly, and sit them down instantly.
If you don’t have the courage to do this, I recommend that you do not operate in the gifts of the Spirit in your church. If you will not take authority, Satan will. Your church will be in a constant state of confusion or be dominated and manipulated by Satan’s agents using the weapons of false prophecy to destroy your church.
