Further, Faster, Together

DAY 2 OF 3

United in Purpose

God created you uniquely with special gifts, talents, and passions so that you can live out your God-given purpose.

But … what is your God-given purpose?

Your calling does include what God has uniquely positioned you to do. But that could look different in every season—whether it’s teaching, being a stay-at-home parent, helping non-profits, or leading your own business.

God’s calling is so much more than a job. It transcends where you live, where you work, your relationship status, and net worth. God’s calling is about how you live and who you are.

Jesus’ last commandment on earth to His disciples was this: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

This wasn’t just a command to His disciples. This is Jesus’ command to us, too. Whether it’s at home with your family, at work with your coworkers, spending time with your friends, or talking to the cashier at the grocery store, Jesus calls each of us to make disciples.

So, how do we do this?

In Mark, Jesus says the greatest commandment is this: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

We are called to love God and love others—no matter what.

God invites us to receive His unconditional and sacrificial love, and to respond by loving Him and loving others. When we receive God’s love, we can respond with love. And when we love God first and others second, the people around us will begin to see the heart of God in us. That will give us opportunities to share the good news of Jesus with others.

What’s more important than what you do for a season, is who God has called you to be in every season—someone who reflects His love to the world and furthers His kingdom.

Reflect and Respond:

  • What would it look like for you to live out God’s calling today?
  • Think about where God has you right now. How could you use the gifts and talents He’s given you to fulfill His purposes?

Prayer:

God,

Thank You for inviting me to be part of Your bigger purpose. May my life be a testimony for You and Your kingdom. Help me center my life around You and serving others. No matter what season I’m in, what job I have, or what I do, guide my steps so that when others see me, they will see You. Today, reveal any opportunities in my everyday interactions where I can be Your light to others.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
