Have you ever been afraid for something you knew was ahead? Maybe a test you were worried you’d fail, a family gathering you know will cause conflict or an audition you don’t think you’ll land. Whatever it is, when we’re faced with fears, it’s easy to think we can’t do it. That’s exactly how Mary, Jesus’ mother, felt thousands of years ago.

When the angel of the Lord appeared to tell her she’d give birth to the Savior of the world, of course, Mary was afraid. That’s a huge assignment! But in her fears, the angel of the Lord comforted her, reminding her that God’s promises never fail. That was true for Mary, and it’s true for us today. When we’re facing our fears, we can do so with the confidence that, because of Jesus, we aren’t facing them alone.

Today, make a list of God's promises to us. If you need help here, talk to your Small Group Leader to get started! Let each one remind you that you can face the things that feel scary in this life because you have God's promises to go with you when you do.
