Grace Is Enough

DAY 2 OF 3

Day 2: It’s All Been Paid For

Yesterday, we acknowledged the hard truth that we won’t ever have enough, and yet, we can take comfort in knowing that all of us come up short; you’re not the only one who doesn’t have enough. When our experiences of inadequacy turn to feelings of shame, we can pause and recognize that our failure to measure up is a very human and normal experience.

Thankfully, God has a plan to cover everything you need, not just what you can’t cover yourself. His plan can be summed up in one of the most famous scriptures, John 3:16. This verse outlines God’s unwavering love for humans and His commitment to doing whatever it takes to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to experience the grace of God. Grace is simply receiving something that we don’t deserve, so all of us receive grace when we accept Christ’s payment on our behalf.

Through the death of Jesus Christ, what we owe has been paid for. All of it. This means that while we can acknowledge that we’ll never have enough, we never need to worry about being enough to be loved and saved by God. Christ offers you grace not because of anything you can do for God; he offers you grace and pays for everything because he loves you.

That famous verse in John goes on to tell us that God wanted to do more than simply pay the price for you; God has enough for everyone, for the entire world! When we accept God’s grace, we get to join Him in spreading grace in the world and helping to bring about restoration.

Restoration is all about getting something back to how it was originally intended to be. We have been invited to partner with God in bringing about the restoration of the world through grace, compassion, and forgiveness. When we accept Christ’s payment on our behalf, it frees us up to bring restoration to the world.

Next Step
Today, reflect on the enormity of the debt you've been released from. What was it like for you not to have enough? What does it mean for Jesus to pay that debt for you?
