Daily Bible Reading— September 2024, God’s Guiding Word: WisdomSample
September 3
Introduction
Mark 4:21–34: Jesus teaches about the Kingdom of God by means of three more parables — a lamp under a bowl, growing seed, and the mustard seed.
Today’s Key Verse: Mark 4:22
[Jesus said:] “Whatever is hidden away will be brought out into the open, and whatever is covered up will be uncovered.”
Reflect
The Kingdom of God is where God reigns, where God’s will is done. In the three parables included in today’s reading, what is your understanding of what Jesus is teaching about the Kingdom of God? What is revealed? How might these teachings apply to the way you live?
Pray
Lord God, your Kingdom is like a lamp that gives light, revealing your love and salvation for all people. Your Kingdom is like seed that is nurtured by your word. Your Kingdom is like a tiny mustard seed that grows and embraces all people. Instill your word in me and help me to extend your Kingdom so that your will is done here on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
