Learning to Find Joy in Everyday LifeSample
A Normal Day for Eating and Sleeping: "God Takes Care of You"
Great pressures come to us all and the normal thing after a great pressure is to worry or "want to die" like Elijah. I believe that Elijah was not exaggerating, he had gone through days of physical exhaustion and now he had received news of danger to his life.
Have you ever felt that way? You're facing a great pressure and you don't know what to do about it, you don't see the clear solution.
You come from a weariness of attempts, of trying to put things in order, of trying to do finances, of trying to help someone, and stress and debt speak to you: "You have to pay, no matter yesterday's feat, you have to face me", however no matter how much you tire yourself out because control belongs to God (Psalm 127:2)
Anyone would endure days of insomnia, days without eating, but Elijah did something we should do too: He slept and ate. I believe in my heart that the Holy Spirit helped him fall asleep. And you say, "Does that help at all?" Your mind must be rested so that you can see the word that God has for that moment and it won't be easy if your body and mind are dominated by fatigue and worry.
However, sleeping is not synonymous with rest and eating is not synonymous with enjoyment if you are stressed. Your eyes may be closed but there are a thousand things you still think about, or you may be eating and not realize what you are doing.
Therefore you must ask the Holy Spirit to help you rest while you sleep and to trust while you eat, why? Because God takes care of you. And just like Elijah, no one can touch or harm you without the consent of your heavenly Father. Everything is under God's control, and He will give you the grace to face anything. (Psalm 3:5)
When you are tired and your mind is tangled, your solutions can come from the flesh and you can give quick answers to deep questions.
Likewise, you can give complex answers to solutions that are simple and straightforward through the Holy Spirit.
Solomon describes that eating and resting come from the hand of God. Why are you hiding in forced labor? Why are you so stressed and tired? Who takes care of you? Who holds your hand? Don't confuse your work with God's work.
God tells you like Elijah: "Go out!" Get out of that cave of darkness.
Today is a normal day to rest and enjoy, everything else is in God's hands.
God is giving you permission to rest, to trust, to understand that He is with you.
