Disciples of JesusSample
Fruitful Life Fuelled by a Vital Relationship with God
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:4-5 (ESV).
By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. John 15:8 (ESV).
A mark of a disciple of Jesus is living a fruitful life fueled by a vital relationship with God. Bearing fruit is the result of a deep and abiding relationship with Jesus. Just as a branch cannot produce fruit unless it remains connected to the vine, we cannot bear spiritual fruit unless we stay closely connected to Jesus. Our relationship with him fuels our actions and glorifies God.
Reflect on how you can strengthen your relationship with Jesus to ensure you are living a fruitful life. What changes can you make to stay more connected to Him?
Prayer: Father God, I acknowledge that apart from you, I can do nothing. Help me to remain connected to Jesus, drawing strength and nourishment from him daily. May my life bear abundant fruit that glorifies you and demonstrates my discipleship. In Jesus name, Amen.

About this Plan
Jesus outlines three essential characteristics of his disciples in the Gospel of John. They are growing in freedom through God’s Word, loving others as he loves us, and living a fruitful life connected to God. Over three days we will explore these marks of a disciple of Jesus.
