The Delay Is Strategic Sample
His Almighty Hand
God's delays are driven by his loving-kindness towards us and his desire to give us something better and greater! Let's look at the story of Lazarus again. When Lazarus fell ill, his sisters, Mary and Martha, sent for Jesus, knowing He could heal their brother. Instead of rushing to Lazarus’ side, Jesus waited two days before beginning His journey to Bethany. By the time Jesus arrived, Lazarus had been dead for four days. Martha expressed her disappointment, saying, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” (John 11:21, ESV)
Yet, Jesus had a greater plan. He used this delay to reveal His power over death itself. Standing at Lazarus’ tomb, Jesus declared, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” (John 11:40, ESV). With a command, He called Lazarus back to life, showcasing His authority over life and death and demonstrating that His delays are never in vain.
In our own lives, God’s delays serve to reveal His power in similar ways. They remind us that His ways are higher than our ways. In Luke 1:37, the angel Gabriel declares to Mary, “For nothing will be impossible with God.” These words are a reminder that God’s power transcends human limitations and earthly timelines. When we face delays in our lives—whether in relationships, careers, health, or answered prayers—let us remember that these are opportunities for God to demonstrate His sovereign power. He is all-powerful, mighty in His deeds, and faithful to His promises.
Take a moment to reflect on where you are currently experiencing delays or waiting on God’s promises. How can you shift your perspective to see these delays as opportunities for God to reveal His power?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
I Thank You for the revelations of Your sovereignty and power over all things, including the delays I experience. Help me to embrace that You are at work for my good and Your glory. May Your power be magnified in my life today and always.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
